    1. Further to my comment above. Our ability to learn is probably genetic and not what we learn. And what is “bad” any why? Not sticking to rules and / or the law? We have needs and if they are not fulfilled we might get upset and it could show up as bad behaviour. This “bad” behaviour could be in the eye of the beholder.

  1. Hm, nature vs. nurture: good nature without nurture might have the same outcome as bad nature with nurture. Unfortunately, not always we can change the ‘nature’, so let’s focus on improving the ‘nurture’ for everyone. Talking about ‘bad people’, I always liked the following story: It is not that black and white after all.

β€œβ€¦Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.” We all have ‘monsters’ inside us – let’s tame them first before we start blaming society, nature or nurture for someone else’s faults.

    1. very true, wise words. but most of the monsters that live inside the hearts of majority of human beings are tame enough to not hurt others without provocation; they can be ignored i guess, problem is with the untamed ones.

      1. In my experience unfortunately even ‘tamed’ monsters can get ‘untamed’ when the circumstances change – at least, that’s what happened in Russia after perestroika. Some people who looked like humans before perestroika turned into real beasts afterwards.

      2. perestroika means division of russia? i agree, thats why we should be keeping the monsters within ourselves under watch. have you read the famous red indian story? i have rarely read a story as wise as that- the one about the two wolves inside us the black and white, they are bound to fight each other sooner or later, the one you feed through your actions or thoughts will be the stronger one, the winner.

you can guess what those two wolves represent if you have not read the story already. i love, love that story.

      3. Perestroika is the name for the time period in Russia (in 1980s-90s) when communism collapsed and wild capitalism/chaos took place. I lived through that time in Russia – it was a very scary time. I would love to read that red indian story. Where can I find it?

      4. ok, i have been reading about that period here, in papers and magazines, west bengal was under communist leadership back then.

i will write that story, right after i log out and share it with you. i was forwarded that mail years ago by a friend.
