Durgapuja and Mahalaya:
On sixth day from Mahalaya Durgapuja starts (This year for some mysterious reaons it started on fifth day!)- this day is called the first day of Devipaksha (The fortnight of the Deity); this day holds two very sentimental occasions together for Bengalis.
First one is almost all Bengalis offer their prayers for ancestors on this day, those who have passed away and prays for them. Second one is opposite; a sweet initiation of beautiful days; the deity is already given its form and have been painted except her eyes- her eyes are painted on this day in all family pujas and most of the commercial ones too.
This is called Chakshudan- giving the vision.
Both occasions are full of sentimental value. Some families hold puja on this day too.
I have shared the details of Durgapuja held in my family home, a pure example of rural, family puja. This year I will share the URL of that post and small things related to Durgapuja. Hope you will join me in my journey.
Today is Mahasaptami, the second day of Durgapuja, enthuciasm is written on every face you will see around you. The celebration has just begun. May your life spill will divine blessings!
The millionaire and the daily wager
