Sharmishtha Basu (author) writes

Usha Choumar, a manual scavenger who was “liberated” a decade ago took up a brave path, she made it her motto to raise the issue of introduction of proper way of sanitation in schools, especially in rural schools. Because she believes that as long as rural people are not aware of hygienic sanitation the manual scavengers will never be set free.

It’s a shame that it is still required in a country that is so advanced in some spheres, may be Indian government can include building toilets in villages and more public toilets in urban areas seriously in its very next plan.
