This month is about those who were supposed to be protector but became the monsters of nightmares.
In May 2012 three women in mangalore, stopped the deputy commissioner as he walked to his car, to ask why he has not inspected a site where Mangalore SEZ Limited was dumping mud into a river in an alleged violation of coastal regulation norms. They were arrested and jailed. The charges against them: unlawful assembly, rioting, wrongful restraint, assault etc etc.
This is not a stray incident, this is the story from Mangalore to Manipur, Kashmir to Kanyakumari- only the charges change, somewhere its alleged terrorist, somewhere alleged Maoist, somewhere alleged criminal connections…if one questions its purpose the state will not respond with reason but repression. The more this thing goes on the more it makes democracy a farce. The longer we stay silent the more we will harm ourselves.
We are not small children, we have right to know almost everything that goes on “behalf of us” under the closed doors of government offices, no matter how high level it is.
