Sharmishtha Basu (author) writes

A woman in a small village in Uttar Pradesh is glued to Fashion TV, Munisha is a dress designer in her own right, she studies the latest trends and demands regularly. She is the driving force behind the Sadabahar Self Help Group in Aagapur village, involved in Zari and patchwork.

The members mostly illiterate started with training in patchwork and then shifted to Zari, their work is exported to Gulf countries. They are making regular profits. They are not only self sufficient, but can loan small amount of money to members at a minimal interest rate. Hope Kantha stitch workers of west Bengal follow the suit.

SOURCE: Source of all this writings is internet, newspapers. Mostly from the Hindu, Outlook, Indian Express, Science Daily etc.
