Sharmishtha Basu (author) writes

For centuries weavers of Rajasthan have been weaving Durries, flat weave rugs. It was simple geometric patterns previously, now they have transformed their creations and are adding a touch of art to their works. Weaving as per the latest trends and demands! As a result they have clients in India and overseas.

They weave them at home and sell directly to tourists as they pass by. They are mostly woven in cotton, sometimes mixing wool gathered from camel or goat hair. They use traditional vegetable dyes to color them, like henna (dark red), turmeric (yellow), buckthorns (sap green), indigo (blue, purple hues), saffron (orange).

SOURCE: Source of all this writings is internet, newspapers. Mostly from the Hindu, Outlook, Indian Express, Science Daily etc.
