Sharmishtha Basu (author) writes

Once the Mayong village was inhabited by magicians, people like Chura Bez who could disappear in thin air by muttering a mantra (incantation) or tame a wild tiger by chanting another one. Still people come from faraway places of India to learn magic!

But the younger generation prefers doctors over magicians and thinks its superstition, so the small village sitting on lap of Brahmaputra is slowly turning into a tourist destination.
