If we look around us, we will agree with the environmentalist who bitterly said that we are being ruled by landsharks and their bought people.

The people of Uttarakhand are still mourning their tragedy and the government elsewhere is planning to chop down thousands of trees for yet another project of theirs!

these ghouls do they know that one of the main reason of that terrible flood was brazenly chopping off the trees from the hills?

why do we suffer these people?

  1. They promise riches and move on after they have plundered us and the environment.
You know the saying attributed to the Marquise Pompadour, “Après nous le déluge!”.

      1. Those greedy people will always be with us. We have to find a way to inoculate ourselves against them. Stoicism or religions can help us. As you noticed yourself the democratic process does not help. A politician always falls for it when they. the developers, promise there will be new jobs.

  2. Excellent and heart-felt post as always. It is easy to feel disempowered when faced with the awful greed and cruelty of the ‘privileged’ few but there are glimmers of hope. The organisation ‘Sum Of Us,’ for example, collects on-line signatures to present petitions to corrupt and greedy corporations. We are living in an information age and we need to use it to enlighten the ‘sleepers’ out there. Keep up the good work!

  3. Flash floods can happen any where with or without tree cutting. Trees do attract more rain and then their roots help contain erosion. But the land clearing goons are destroying forests every where in the world and it will take time and a lot of soul searching to stop the malpractice. You have a heart of gold though.
