Someone grabbed her hand firmly and yanked her back, she felt death zipping past her face, a few inches away… in form of the car or truck she failed to listen. So wallowing in her loneliness…

“You should be more careful!” she heard a kind, gentle voice.

“Thanks…” she said, “I was not thinking… anyway, who cares if a blind bat gets killed…”

“You should not look down upon yourself like that.” He admonished. “No creature deserves to die… not someone as sweet and kind like you.”

“Do you know me?” she was surprised.

“I see you every day… when you go to work and return.” he said. “Let’s sit down on the bench… if you have some time.”

They talked for hours, he left her at her doorstep and parted ways.

They started to meet every evening, then love blossomed.
