Poverty – not of the wallet but of heart often reduces human beings to something far worse, this is a harsh truth that Indian politician Chanakya said, “Sarvashunya daridrata” I dont know if he was referring to emptiness of wallet or emptiness of heart/soul, I will assume that he was talking about the latter.

A poor heart often fills up with envy, hatred and malice for those “Who have” what it seeks, yearns for and acts destructively.

The power of destruction being the stronger one, often succeeds too. In the end this poverty is a blackhole that just sucks in everything close by it, including light. It truly is Shunya (zero) or maybe negative.

What do you think?

  1. You can clearly see what is wrong with so many people. What are the circumstances that turned an innocent child into a heartless adult? It is the environment in which that child grew up. Sometimes even good parents can’t stop the waves of evil that engulf us.

When our so-called leaders are corrupt what do we expect? Our media report all the time how people of the government and business people get together. But it does make no difference. It goes on and on.

    1. sometimes it is not circumstances, sometimes it is nature, human beings are just different from each other I guess. some are kind, some cruel, some absolutely horrible! and sometimes circumstances do the deed!

      1. Sometimes it seems that way because a person behaves in a certain way. Still I want to
suggest that a person has learnt to behave as he or she does as reaction to his / her environment. We all have to survive in the environment we find. Some of us break free and we go a new way.

      2. Maybe Peter, as we don’t go inside the houses to see how they treat their kids in private we may assume that parents who look perfect in social circle are mean to their kids behind the closed doors!

I remember my older sister and brother, one three years older and the other five, they were twisted and shrewd from my earliest recollection- ace liars, manipulators, greedy… always trying to invest all their energy to invent new tricks to harass younger siblings! We too were born in the same environment, and even though were constantly tortured by them why did we never bullied or harassed younger persons?
