Thursday Blog 16.6.16

(Continued from last 3 weeks)

Now, sorry I have not gone out to explore the entire residential complex but I have observed from roof that the ground below has been distributed into two major parts- 40% is lawn and 60% is concreted. That most probably is necessary too for the dozens of cars that are owned by the residents.

Now, that concrete starts to emanate its own heat when sun kisses it hotly, by the time it is ten and sunny in summer (April onwards) I have to close my window, because one can actually feel the heat rising from there and heating up the glass of the huge windows, which are airtight for air-conditioners. Which part I think is a brilliant thing because it keeps sound out too, that is a boon in Kolkata. But one does wishes that there were other options for day time, when one is not sleeping and can suffer a little noise pollution. Like a netted window in parallel to glass windows! Yeah, yeah we can fix them by spending our own money but after spending hopping lot of money to rent a flat (forget about those who buy them) can’t we hope for these things?

Those netted windows might have allowed us to avoid the swarm of insects too, don’t grumble about them but that is the only tax we pay for living in divinely close proximity of nature- your jaw will drop if you see the numbers of insect that enter flats after nightfall. So, no matter how stuffy hot it is we have to close the windows too frequently.

Honestly when a man builds a house he builds it for his own living, and when builders build apartment buildings they build it for others to live! That is the only reason I can think of, about these pathetic failures.

That’s it for now! Will share if I come across other problems limited to apartment buildings!
