So many times you asked me about the places I go to visit when I am away on my trips. But I never answered you. Well, if you want to know… I can show you the way.
But beware, if you dont practice caution you may never come back to your home.
I have left you a diary and a key. They will reach you any day now…
I have left the instruction to post them to you in case I am not reporting to them for more than six months, so, I must be either dead or lost. If I am dead I hope I dont have any consciousness, or else I will be missing this world so much, if I am lost, come find me.
with all my blessings.
He folded the letter back to the envelope. Its been more than six months, his father has packed and left. He was a journalist with a science channel, often he went out on his own to investigate or with his team to work. So, not seeing him for months at a stretch was not a surprise for Jay, but this letter, that reached him yesterday made him call everyone his father knew and they all drew blank, no one had any clue where he was.
A small box arrived that very afternoon. The box was antique, it seemed it was carved from some unknown stone. He has never seen anything like that in his whole life, It looked like a crystal, the only thing was he has never seen a crystal that huge, that could carve a 6 inch x 6 inch box, about another six inch high in it. A beautiful oval shaped box.
He opened the box with eager hands.
There was a key inside it. A key made of the same crystal, apart from that there was another note.
think deeply, if you decide to move forth, join a journey of adventure use this key to open the locker in my reading desk.
the drawer you always wanted to see inside but never could. There is a diary. First read it, then use the set of keys there.
May your heart be your guide.
He quickly went upstairs and opened the drawer. His father was right, he has tried to open it so many times when he was a kid. Waiting for a single chance when his father might leave the key by mistake. But he never did.
There was a diary inside it, as promised and a set of keys made out of crystal, but every key had each own colour, he counted, there were twenty keys in total.
He locked the keys back in the drawer and took the diary to his bed.
The first page said-
We are the descendants of one of the greatest sorcerers that world has ever known. It is believed that our ancestor thousands of years ago created a world of magic beautiful and evil both. That was so powerful that it took generations to capture them and close them behind doors that kept them inside by spells.
The following generations used those realms as training arenas.
Then came our times, we the ones without any magical power, with only one hunger- hunger for wealth and adventure. So many has lost their lives behind those doors. Yet I will go… and every time I can return I will share the stories ….
In the end his father’s name was signed.
He turned the next page.
The red door –
I turned the key into the hole and the door opened. There was a small ante room before another door. In that room there was a cloak and a ring, and a letter.
My son, if you are following my footsteps, do not forget to keep the ring, cloak and the letter back there for your son.
So, I picked up the letter and started reading it. It was not actually one letter, I could see a huge stack lying beside, seems every man has left one after coming out of the room, for his son. Dont worry, the paper stack and inkpot keeps replentishing itself. Feel free to use.
Now, my son, the cloak will make you air, for it is a scary world inside for sure, it is the easiest one too. I wont spoil the surprises, just remember two things- the cloak will turn you into air, and if you are hungry or thirsty then you will have to open it to eat or drink, that is to use your body you will have to open it, but beware, it is a land filled with dangers. If you feel trapped, scared or tired rub the ring in your palm twice, you will come back to this room.
I passed six months in this realm. With priceless memories.
With much love,
your loving father.
He placed the diary down on his bedside table.
What was behind those doors…. he wondered. What lured men so much, that they ignored the fear of death. But above all, where was the gate to the place that lead to those worlds? He laid there watching the ceiling, trying to sleep but could not.
He threw away the covers and turned on the light. He picked up the diary and as if in answer to his questions a letter fell.
A sealed letter in his name.
He opened it and started reading instantly.
Open the same drawer from which you found the diary, you will have to locate the lever that will open the panel at the back, there is another key and the direction to the gateway.
Wish you the very best. But my son, dont forget to read my diary entries and letters about the rooms before you enter them.
Wish you a long and happy life.
With love and blessings,
He scrambled downstairs and opened the drawer, after minute search he located the lever, the compartment opened, it had a sealed envelope inside it.
He opened the envelop, there was a map with clear directions and two sets keys, one was normal- appeared like house keys, the other was very extraordinary- very beautiful, it was folding, when he completely opened it it measured somewhere around 1 feet by six inches, it was made of metal, with a fire coloured phoenyx as its main body, the bird was an exquisite work of art.
he folded it back and concentrated on the map.
He packed up for the trip next day, because it will take him to a small island in Andaman, owned by his family for generations- a fact he came to know just now. His father never even mentioned it. But he could see why he taught him all sorts of sports and driving every possible vehicle, starting from small ships to helicopters and small plane. He knew scuba diving and mountaineering. He was not even in his thirties…
He boarded a plane to the airport named in the directions, from there he was supposed to take HIS boat, that was in HIS house there. He thought he knew his father … he never thought he had so many secrets!
He reached his house in port blair, it was a lovely little beach house. His boat, a small and very sturdy schooner was lying in the harbour, meticulously maintained by the man who took care of the house and their small property there.
There was another thing in that sealed envelope, a bracelet, with his name carved on it, he was supposed to wear it on his arm, from the day he arrived at Port Blair, and after that for the rest of his life.
The name of the man who took care of their property was Marx, he was somewhere in his sixties but was very well built and extraordinarily handsome. If Bodhisatva was of jealous type he might have gotten jealous of his looks at that age, he was more attractive than Bodhi.
“So you are heading for the island?” Marx asked.
“Yes.” Bodhi answered, “Have you ever been there?”
“None but the descendants of your family can place their foot on that island. Better beware of that fact young master.” Marx chuckled.
“Where are you from…? around here?” Bodhi asked.
He nodded in disagreement. He seemed an amicable but silent man, and Bodhi never bothered people who preferred silence so they had their dinner early and both retired to their chambers. He could see from the arrangements that his father treated Marx as equal so he treated him like his father’s brother.
He passed a restless night.
He was at the jetty before dawn, Marx was already there, it seemed he was checking the boat.
“You will get your food there…” he smiled. “I have packed up some food and water for emergency… its about two hours in the ocean…”
He started the boat, the silhouette of Marx slowly disappeared in the background.
He felt the ocean breeze soothing and refreshing at a time.
It took him exactly three hours and ten minutes to reach the co-ordinate… there was no sign of any island anywhere.
He looked around in every direction but there was no sign of any island.
He turned off the engine and the boat shook, just a little, then before he could react the boat wrapped itself in a bubble, that felt like crystal.
The next minute it was sinking under water… he did not resisted, if a boat can do the first thing it certainly wont drown him.
It started moving towards north, as per his compass, he could see fishes and other marine creatures swimming by, a shark, a few dolphins.
He hoped that his submarine boat wont draw attention of a navy submarine.
It started to rise again after an hour or a bit more.
It surfaced on a lake, surrounded by hills, the sky was strange though… it was golden, soft, mellow golden.
The boat started to move towards the jetty, he could see a few people waiting there for him, the crystal wrapping was gone the minute the boat surfaced, he could see their colourful dresses, that belonged to a world centuries ago.
The boat stopped in the jetty.
a very handsome man came forth and bowed.
he could see that he was a centaur and suppressed his reaction.
“Welcome young master!” he smiled. “Your chamber is ready.”
He came down on the shore and followed the creture to the huge palace that was lying in front of him. No wonder his family never ran out of money….
He did not had to be an expert to see that the metals used were gold and silver and the buildings were decorated by gems.
“Hello Bodhi!” a divine creature stepped forth to meet him when he entered the hallway, if she had a pair of wings he might have thought that she was a fairy, but she did not had them on display.
“I am Indu..” she smiled, “I take care of this place for your family, like Marx does out there, we both are elves.”
She took him to a huge room, it was decorated in quite modern manner, except the electronic stuffs, a very lavish home without a tv, computer or cellphone… sort of thing.
He fished out his cellphone, it has stopped working, so had his watch.
“They will go back to their normal self when you return to your world.” Indu smiled. “Time does not exists here in your sense… You can take your bath, your dinner will be served here, any preferences?”
“Anything healthy…” he smiled. He really wanted a good bath and sleep quite a lot.
The dinner was served when he came out of the toilet, a nice heavy dinner.
He went out of the room for a walk after dinner.
The sky above has turned into very deep shade of gold, almost black. There were no stars or moon…
“It’s not sky.” a gentle voice spoke right behind him, he turned, it was the satyr (a creature half man, half goat) who has greeted him on the jetty.
“Then what is it?” he asked.
“It’s the roof of the cave in which your ancestors have built the magic realm.” the satyr answered.
“Is it underwater?” he asked, “Under the ocean?”
“Its in another dimension, a parallel universe as you say in your language.” the satyr answered.
“What is outside this cave then?” he asked.
“Ah… a very scary world…” the satyr replied.
“Is it a magic world?” He asked more curious.
“A dark magic world, that is why your ancestors brought it to this realm, so that if the barrier is ruined some day the creatures of this world will know how to control the creatures imprisoned behind those doors…” the satyr pointed his finger at the door of a palace.
That palace was magnificent… or maybe, that will be an understatement. He instantly recognized the material, it was of the same material of those keys. That material was used to build it.
“Night is falling.” his companion said.
“What is your name?” he asked.
“Stubby young master.” the satyr answered.
“Please dont call me master, I dont own you….” Bodhi blushed.
“I will try…” the satyr smiled.
The sky above them was slowly turning into black from gold.
“Is the night pitch dark here?” he asked Stubby.
“No sire… see…” he pointed out his finger.
The leaves of the trees were glowing softly. Apart from them, some thousand coloured flames, soft and beautiful were floating around the whole place.
“What are those? glowworms?” he asked.
“No sire…” Stubby laughed and before he could say what they were Bodhi saw himself, they were fairies, luminous creatures, barely as big as his palms.
one of them settled down on his shoulder and said something in a sweet voice, that sounded like bird chattering to him, very sweet but absolutely out of his range…
“What is she saying?” He asked Stubby.
“She is welcoming you here sire…” Stubby said.
“Please thank her for me.” Bodhi said, smiling at the fairy.
Stubby said something to her and the fairy flew away after softly kissing his cheek, leaving behind a sweet fragrance.
“Shall we head back to your home sire?” Stubby said, “In case you are hungry or tired…”
he was both, so they headed back to the palace.
Indu was waiting for him in the entrance hall.
“When will you have your dinner?” she asked.
“Is it ready?” he asked trying not to sound like starving child.
“Yes…” she smiled.
“Then I will love to have it after bath.” he said.
“Your father left this box for you…” she pointed her finger at a box on the table.
he nodded his head and went to the toilet for a nice bath.
His dinner was waiting for him on the table.
Indu sat down on a chair opposite him, giving him company.
“You wont join me? I will be glad if you do…” he asked before starting.
“You most probably will ruin your appetite if you see me nibbling on buds or sipping dewdrop…” Indu smiled, we elves dont need much energy from outer sources, the earth provides us our necessary energy.
“Some of us take up human eating habits, just for fun.. some never eat or drink… some follow the middle path.. I belong to the latter group.” She said, “Enjoy your food…”
He finished up and she left.
He picked up the box and went to bed with it.
There was a gentle glow in the room, that seemed to be observing his movement, the minute he opened the box the light became brilliant enough for reading.
There were letters and a diary. The letters were old but the diary was comparatively new, it had his father’s name engraved on it.
He opened the diary.
If you are reading this diary you must be my son or daughter, well, there is no use trying to keep track of dates and times in this realm, so I am just skipping that part.
You are not only my child, you are sitting on the same bed where I was sitting when I opened this box, given by Indu, the elf.
As I have been suggested by my father, enter the red room first. It is easiest.
In the hall of the temple, there are things you should must carry before entering the rooms.
0ne, a cloak- it will make you transparent like wind, light, creatures will be able to feel you, and may be see you too but wont be able to do anything to you… not even in the darkest rooms, but in the darker rooms they will try to trick you to lose the cloak, because just like wind, light you wont be able to touch, feel or taste anything while you are wearing that cloak.
two, a weapon – the weapon will be of your choice… it will allow you to penetrate any form of energy, creature that you will encounter in any of these rooms, but… they too will have the power to shield themselves, especially in darker rooms.
three, a ring – if you want to escape or are bored… just want to go home, wear this ring, it will take you back to the hall, but remember, once you are out of a door you wont be able to enter there again. No matter what you do.
four, the vial – save it like your breath my child, this vial will contain a liquid, enough for ten consumptions, every sip will bring you back to full health, even if you were almost dead. Save it for the darker rooms.
I wont spoil your fun by telling you what are in those rooms, but my child, think well before getting addicted to the thrills of those rooms. Think well, if you will rather prefer to live a luxurious life in the realm you belong or live the life of a warrior in this one.
I chose latter.
much love… your father.
He placed the box in the bedside table and laid down.
The light started to dim, soon it was almost dark inside the room, just enough light was there to walk around the room in case…
He fell asleep and slept like a small baby.
He woke up, he assumed he has slept long enough because his body was relaxed. But the room was still dark, but it slowly started to brighten up when he opened his eyes fully, it was daylight outside… and he could hear the fabulous melody of birds and creatures that all of a sudden entered the room.
Perfect environment for sleep… he thought…cool! Ah! if only this feature could be transported to the world he lived in. So many people will bless him!
